21–27 सितंबर के दौरान Special Intensive Revision (SIR) को लेकर विपक्षी दलों और नागरिक समूहों की गतिविधियां तेज रहीं। Congress ने 25 सितंबर को राज्य Election Commission offices तक protest marches का आह्वान किया और CEC Gyanesh Kumar के खिलाफ कार्रवाई तथा इस्तीफे की मांग उठाई। इस विवाद की पृष्ठभूमि में रिपोर्ट सामने आई कि Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu और Vivek Joshi ने पिछले लगभग दस महीनों में 14 मामलों में औपचारिक आपत्तियां दर्ज की थीं, जिनमें SIR से जुड़े निर्णय भी शामिल थे।

21–27 सितंबर के सप्ताह में Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games India के लिए प्रमुख sports story रहा। 27 सितंबर के अंत तक India की medal tally 37 तक पहुंच गई थी। Athletics में Sarvesh Kushare ने men's high jump में silver, Ancy Sojan ने women's long jump में silver और Parul Chaudhary ने women's 3000m steeplechase में bronze जीता। Squash, shooting, boxing, kabaddi और अन्य disciplines में भी medals जुड़े।
PV Sindhu और women's doubles pair Treesa Jolly–Gayatri Gopichand के quarterfinal exits ने दूसरी ओर भारतीय badminton campaign को निराश किया। 27 सितंबर की reporting में athletics के साथ squash और boxing में भी भारतीय medal activity दर्ज हुई।

Odisha DGP ने 26 सितंबर को बताया कि organised और sensitive crime cases से निपटने के लिए सभी police districts में special units स्थापित करने की योजना है। इसी अवधि में festive season के लिए “Operation Daman” भी 21–30 सितंबर तक चलाया गया। Odisha Assembly session के दौरान multi-layer security arrangements में platoons, QRTs और drones का इस्तेमाल किया गया।
